PROGRAMMES OFFERED

All programs offered under Choice Based Credit Semester System of the University of Calicut

Undergraduate Programmes

Every UG student shall undergo Common courses, which includes Common English Course and Additional Course. 

Core courses: Core courses are the courses in the major (core) subject of the degree programme chosen by the student. Core courses are offered by the parent department.
Complementary courses: Complementary courses cover one or two disciplines that are related to the core subject and are distributed in the first four semesters.

Open courses: There shall be one open course in core subjects in the fifth semester. The open course shall be open to all the students in the institution except the students in the parent
department. The students can opt that course from any other department in the institution. Each department can decide the open course from a pool of courses offered by the University.

Audit Course: There shall be one mandatory Audit course each in the first four semesters. These courses are not meant for class room study.

Programme Outcomes

The curriculum of all the programmes have been designed by the University of Calicut to provide a holistic education reflecting academic excellence and social relevance.The programme specific outcomes and course outcomes have been framed in accordance with the local, regional, national and global needs. They are aimed at equipping the students with a critical and imaginative thinking, effective oral and written communication skills, and ability to use ICT to meet the needs of a complex global society.

The programme delivery focuses on national integration, cultural heritage, gender, environmental and other social issues. They aim at instilling scientific temper with an orientation towards application where required. They provide a professional edge to the students enhancing their employability.  

Personality Development, Nature Club, Entreepreneurship Development Club, College Civil Service Academy, Women Develoment Cell, Yoga Club, Fine Arts Club and extension activities such as NSS etc. grooms the students into responsible citizens for employment and life outside the institution. The postgraduate programmes are enriched with intense curriculum and rigorous training for advanced research.
